Best Accommodation In Delhi

Are you planning a tour of India? Then why not consider Delhi. A vibrant melting pot, you?ll hear a jumble of vernaculars spoken in Delhi, the most common being Hindi, English, Punjabi and Urdu. In terms of its layout, Delhi encapsulates two very different worlds, the 'old' and the 'new', each presenting deliciously different experiences.

Getting Around

Delhi is a major international gateway. It's also a centre for domestic travel, with extensive bus, rail and air connections. Delhi's airport can be prone to thick fog in December and January (often disrupting airline schedules), making it wise not to book back-to-back flights during this period.

Top Accommodation in Delhi

Ahuja Residency: Right in the centre of Delhi, this is a no-frills guesthouse, which comes highly-recommended. The 1950s home is located in one of the city's upmarket residential enclaves, Golf Links, and family-owned and run. It's very central, and best of all walking distance from the extraordinary shopping arcarde of Khan Market, where you can buy everything from ?15,000 antique pearl necklaces to jars of Marmite imported from the UK.

Hotel Vikram: Hotel is situated in Lajpat Nagar, just off the Ring Road which is the main arterial road of Delhi, making it easier to travel around; although the immediate surroundings do not have much to offer. The lobby is bit on the smaller side but adequate seating is available for its size.

The Ambassador Hotel: Inspired by colonial charm, the Ambassador Hotel's design offers a palette of local colours, materials, and fabrics. Nearby, there is much to see and do including Lodhi Gardens and Humayan's Tomb.

Taj Mahal Hotel: The Taj Mahal Hotel is surrounded by lush landscaped gardens. It is situated in the heart of the capital in an area graced with colonial architecture and known as "Lutyens Delhi". The hotel is a city landmark, centrally located, in close proximity to key areas. It is a 40-minute drive from the airport and near the bustling city center, Connaught Place, Pragati Maidan, Government offices and Diplomatic missions.
